Legislation & Legislative Matters

Whether we like it or not, politics play an important role in the construction industry. For the past 100 years, union activists within different unions have been involved in ongoing battles with the Politicians. These battles have been fought for all the working people, union and merit shop alike.

Currently, unions are fighting for issues on some laws that will protect all the workers in America, such as the Davis Bacon Act, OSHA, National Labor Relations Act, and Worker's Compensation.

Look at the laws that help American workers, they have been created to better our working conditions. If these laws are so good, then why are so many employers fighting to have them changed or removed completely?

The reason is greed. For a good company, this is just a part of doing business. As you can see, some employers care more about their pocketbooks than their employees.

You may ask yourself, "What can I do"? One thing is to vote, another is contacting your Representative. It may seem that the Politicians only listen to the people with all the money, the reality is that they listen to the voters.

No Legislative matters currently listed. Please check back soon...

Know the issues affecting workers, then VOTE!!!
